Wholesale into Switzerland

01

Freight and timing

Air freight into Zurich runs 5–10 days for smaller lots. Sea freight routes via Rotterdam or Genoa then overland, and is cheaper per piece above 50 pieces but adds four to six weeks plus a Swiss customs entry.

02

Swiss customs

Switzerland is not in the EU. Swiss import VAT of 8.1% applies to almost every parcel because the tax-free threshold is very low (duty and VAT under about CHF 5 are waived). Customs duty on clothing is charged by weight rather than value. The courier collects VAT, duty and a clearance fee before delivery. For bulk this is simpler than it sounds — one freight entry rather than many small parcels each attracting handling fees.

03

The Switzerland market

Zurich, Geneva, Basel and Lausanne have small but high-spending vintage markets, and Swiss buyers pay European-high prices for clean workwear. Ricardo and Tutti are the local resale platforms alongside Vinted. Lined jackets and heavyweight double knees suit the climate and sell well into the autumn.
