Darker browns are less common in vintage than the classic tan-brown duck, and they read closer to workwear-as-outerwear than the lighter shades.
The Active Jac has been in continuous production since the 1980s under codes J130, J131 and J140. Pre-2000s examples carry a square white label and Union Made or Made in USA tags, use a heavier 12oz duck, and have deeper ribbed cuffs than current production.
Graded slightly worn: visible use with even fade across the piece, nothing that affects how it wears. This is the sweet spot for most buyers — the fabric has already softened and the colour has settled, but it hasn't been worked to the point of repair. Wash cold and hang dry. Duck canvas softens with every wash but hot water and tumble drying will shrink it and stiffen the shell. Spot-clean where you can.
