Why is Pakistan a hub for vintage clothing?
Because it is one of the world's largest importers of used clothing. Bales from North America, Europe and Japan are shipped to Karachi and Lahore, sorted by hand into grades and categories, and re-exported or sold domestically. That sorting infrastructure is where vintage dealers find Carhartt, Levi's and the rest at the source.
How does the trade work?
Importers buy mixed bales by weight. Sorters open them and separate by category, brand and condition. Branded vintage is picked out and sold to specialist dealers — like us — who grade, photograph, rework and sell to resellers abroad. Each stage adds a margin; buying closer to the source cuts the chain.
What should I look for in a supplier?
Photos of every piece before payment, clear grading, commercial invoices, a deposit-and-balance structure, tracked shipping and a WhatsApp number that answers. A supplier with a website, product pages and a public catalogue is easier to verify than an Instagram account alone.
How do payments work?
Bank transfer or Wise are standard, with a deposit to reserve stock and the balance before dispatch. Card payment via invoice is sometimes offered. Avoid paying the full amount before you have seen photos of your exact pieces.
What are the risks?
The usual cross-border ones: misdescribed goods, slow shipping, customs surprises. Manage them by buying a small first bundle, insisting on photos, confirming HS codes and duty before ordering, and using a supplier who has shipped to your country before — our country pages cover the customs rules for 30 markets.
Why buy reworked from Pakistan rather than as-found?
Labour. Skilled garment work is affordable here, which is why a hand-reworked jacket can be sold at a price that would not be possible in Europe or North America. The fabric is the same vintage Carhartt; the rework is where Pakistan adds value.
