The dark khaki colourway

Khaki is the most versatile shade in the range and the most common in vintage shorts and pants. It picks up marks readily, which is exactly what gives worn pairs their character.

Era and identification

Lighter than duck but with the same hammer loop and ruler pocket. These break in faster and drape softer, which is why they suit warmer climates.

Condition — slightly worn

Graded slightly worn: visible use with even fade across the piece, nothing that affects how it wears. This is the sweet spot for most buyers — the fabric has already softened and the colour has settled, but it hasn't been worked to the point of repair. Priced at $71 against an original retail of $105 — 32% below new, for fabric weight and construction current production no longer matches.

How it fits and how to wear it

Vintage duck shrinks with washing, so the measured waist often runs under the tagged size. The rise sits higher than modern equivalents and the leg is cut straight and roomy. Wears year-round. The straight leg and higher rise sit well over boots or trainers, and the fabric weight means they hold shape through a full day rather than going soft by lunchtime. Care

Wash cold, inside out, hang dry. Avoid fabric softener — it breaks down the canvas weave. If a knee or seam starts to go, repair early; bar-tacked repairs hold indefinitely.
