Wholesale into Italy

01

Freight and timing

Air freight into Milan Malpensa runs 6–12 days for smaller lots; sea freight via Genoa or Trieste is materially cheaper per piece above 50 pieces but adds three to five weeks.

02

Italian and EU customs

Italy applies 22% import VAT on goods entering the EU, plus customs duty on used clothing above the EU threshold. The EU has been phasing out its low-value exemptions, with a transitional duty applying from July 2026, so budget for VAT plus duty on any order. The courier collects before delivery; Italian couriers also add a small customs-handling fee. For bulk this is simpler than it sounds — one freight entry rather than many small parcels each attracting handling fees.

03

The Italy market

Italy's vintage scene is strong and style-led — Milan, Bologna, Florence and Rome all have dense vintage districts and weekend markets, and Vinted has overtaken Depop as the main resale app. Italian buyers favour Carhartt brown and black Detroits and cropped jackets; washed-out pants in neutral tones sell well to menswear boutiques.
