The olive green colourway
Green colourways are the collector's alternative to brown. Moss, olive and army shades came in shorter runs, and sun exposure pushes them toward a dusty, faded tone that can't be reproduced.
Era and identification
The K87 is the most produced Carhartt garment ever made. Older examples use noticeably heavier cotton than current production and carry the small square label on the chest pocket.
Condition — slightly worn
Graded slightly worn: visible use with even fade across the piece, nothing that affects how it wears. This is the sweet spot for most buyers — the fabric has already softened and the colour has settled, but it hasn't been worked to the point of repair. Priced at $27 against an original retail of $42 — 36% below new, for fabric weight and construction current production no longer matches.
How it fits and how to wear it
Cut boxy and often wider than modern tees at the same label size. Many buyers size down one for a fitted look, or wear as-is for the boxy silhouette. Wears as a standalone piece in warm weather or as a base layer under a jacket. The heavier cotton drapes rather than clings, which is the main difference from modern tees. Care
Wash cold and hang dry to protect the fade you paid for. Heat is what dulls vintage cotton and shrinks the boxy cut you want to keep.
