The olive green colourway

Green colourways are the collector's alternative to brown. Moss, olive and army shades came in shorter runs, and sun exposure pushes them toward a dusty, faded tone that can't be reproduced.

Era and identification

Plain duck work pants are the volume seller of the range and the easiest way into vintage Carhartt bottoms. Same canvas as the collected models, without the premium.

Condition — like new

Graded like new: clean throughout, structurally sound, no notable flaws. What patina there is came from light wear and washing rather than work. If you want vintage fabric weight without the marks, this is the grade to buy. Priced at $76 against an original retail of $105 — 28% below new, for fabric weight and construction current production no longer matches.

How it fits and how to wear it

Vintage duck shrinks with washing, so the measured waist often runs under the tagged size. The rise sits higher than modern equivalents and the leg is cut straight and roomy. Wears year-round. The straight leg and higher rise sit well over boots or trainers, and the fabric weight means they hold shape through a full day rather than going soft by lunchtime. Care

Wash cold, inside out, hang dry. Avoid fabric softener — it breaks down the canvas weave. If a knee or seam starts to go, repair early; bar-tacked repairs hold indefinitely.
