Duck carpenter pants combine the hammer loop build with 12oz canvas. 1990s pairs are noticeably stiffer when new and break in to a distinct drape that modern production doesn't reach.
Condition — broken in
Graded broken in: real character. Marks, softened fabric, uneven fade and possibly honest repairs at stress points. This is the grade collectors actually want, because none of it can be faked and no two broken-in pieces look alike. Priced at $67 against an original retail of $109 — 39% below new, for fabric weight and construction current production no longer matches.
How it fits and how to wear it
Vintage duck shrinks with washing, so the measured waist often runs under the tagged size. The rise sits higher than modern equivalents and the leg is cut straight and roomy. Wears year-round. The straight leg and higher rise sit well over boots or trainers, and the fabric weight means they hold shape through a full day rather than going soft by lunchtime. Care
