Denim wash grade is what determines value here. Lighter washes have seen more sun and wear, and are softer from the first wear; darker washes read closer to new.
Era and identification
Built to work-pant spec rather than fashion denim — heavier weight, triple-stitched seams, hammer loop. They hold structure where fashion denim collapses.
Condition — broken in
Graded broken in: real character. Marks, softened fabric, uneven fade and possibly honest repairs at stress points. This is the grade collectors actually want, because none of it can be faked and no two broken-in pieces look alike. Priced at $35 against an original retail of $65 — 46% below new, for fabric weight and construction current production no longer matches.
How it fits and how to wear it
Cut long and roomy through the leg, sitting at or below the knee on most wearers. Waist measurements often come in under the tagged size after decades of washing. Summer wear that holds structure. Unlike lightweight shorts, canvas keeps its shape through the day, and the longer cut means the proportions work without cuffing or altering. Care
Wash cold and hang dry. If you have a raw hem it will fray about a centimetre then stabilise — that's normal and stops on its own.
