The navy colourway

Navy is scarcer in vintage than brown or black and reads more considered than either. It fades toward a dusty slate rather than going patchy.

Era and identification

The Active Jac has been in continuous production since the 1980s under codes J130, J131 and J140. Pre-2000s examples carry a square white label and Union Made or Made in USA tags, use a heavier 12oz duck, and have deeper ribbed cuffs than current production.

Condition — like new

Graded like new: clean throughout, structurally sound, no notable flaws. What patina there is came from light wear and washing rather than work. If you want vintage fabric weight without the marks, this is the grade to buy. Priced at $104 against an original retail of $139 — 25% below new, for fabric weight and construction current production no longer matches.

Cut boxy and roomy to layer over a hoodie. Most buyers size down one from their usual jacket size for a modern fit, or keep true to size for the oversized look. Wears as outerwear over a hoodie or knit through autumn and winter. The boxy cut is the point — it was designed to layer, which is why it sits correctly over bulk rather than straining. Care

Wash cold and hang dry. Duck canvas softens with every wash but hot water and tumble drying will shrink it and stiffen the shell. Spot-clean where you can.
